A person suffering from Meniere’s disease often finds very little enjoyment in life. The things that someone without the disease may find relaxing can be agonizing to those with Meniere’s.
What Is Meniere’s?
When you have Meniere’s disease, the fluid in the inner ear that is responsible for balance and proprioception (the awareness of the position of the body) is not working properly. Meniere’s affects both men and women, most often in the age range of 20 to 50 years. What are some common symptoms?
- Ears that feel full or clogged
- Loss of hearing
- Nausea and/or vomiting
- Vertigo
- A ringing in the ears referred to as tinnitus

How Is it Treated?
This can be difficult. Some have tried changes to their diet. Others have looked to invasive surgery. These are limited as to how successful they are. There is evidence showing that upper cervical chiropractic care can be a natural and effective solution.
Why Upper Cervical?
There is a definite connection between Meniere’s disease and the upper neck and spine area. If a subluxation, or misalignment, is found in the upper two bones in the neck (the C1 and C2) this can be the underlying cause of Meniere’s.
A study conducted of 139 patients that suffer from Meniere’s disease showed the surprising result that 136 of them felt much improvement in symptoms after only one or two adjustments by an upper cervical chiropractor.
An upper cervical chiropractor, such as Dr. Jason Minogue of Houston, Texas, uses specialized techniques and x-rays to detect whether or not you have a misalignment in the upper neck. He will then begin to correct the problem specifically for your misalignment. This is only done as needed. When your neck becomes properly aligned your body will begin to restore normal function again and balance will improve, along with your Meniere’s symptoms. Why not schedule an appointment with Dr. Minogue today?
